The Fiesta ng Kabataang Pinoy was first held in August 2005, in time with the celebration of the World Youth Day in Cologne. The activity was initiated by the Tropa ng Kabataang Pinoy sa Deutschland, a Filipino youth group from the Filipino community in the Archdiocese of Cologne. Since then, the event has been held every other year.
The aim of the Fiesta is to gather the whole community to renew the faith in Jesus Christ and rediscover our Marian devotion as well as join together for a common cause. The responsibility is given to the youth for them to take their place in the Filipino society and give them an opportunity to know their heritage and unite them with the Church.
The benefits of the event are always distributed to the youth for their various activities as well as a particular charity programme in the Philippines. For the coming year, part of the funds will be used to send 10 delegation to the World Youth Day celebration in Madrid, Spain. |

DO YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE BEING A “SAGALA”?
During the month of May in the Philippines, a parade of beautiful young girls and children is organised by the Hermana Mayor or a prominent woman leader in the community. This celebrates the month of the flowers and the story of the finding of the Holy Cross by Queen Helena, the mother of Constantine the Great. To be a sagala, means to wear a beautiful gown and walk in a parade for all to see. |
